Lemons to lemonade

We owe Hard Rock Casino a big "Thank You!!!" They gave Jon a forced day off today. Which at first we were NOT happy about, nobody likes losing money right?!?! But instead of "wasting" the day at home, we went to the zoo in New Orleans for the 1st time as a family. We had a such a great time and Sophie was absolutely hilarious.

Jon and I found a tree that you were allowed to climb up, so Jon and I both took a turn at it. We tried to get Sophie to sit up there with us, but she wanted NOTHING to do with it.

This was so cute. She loved the baby lion. She kept roaring at it and petting it. We tried to get her to sit on it, but for some reason she was COMPLETE scaredy cat (no pun intended) and didn't want to sit on anything foreign today including on the carousel. (we actually had to ride on the bench on the carousel..weird kid, I know!!! LOL)

Look at my stud....being attacked by birds.

This was the ironic part of the day. Remember I said Sophie was completely scared of everything. Well, apparently this does not include goats, sheep and pigs. She IMMEDIATELY ran into the pen and went up to all the animals and had to touch them all. It was SOOOO cute!

Brighter, better and SKINNIER in 2009

Thanks to some AMAZING talks given in Sacrament meeting (at our church) by Brother and Sister Flake about goals, Jon and I have decided to re-vamp our lives. ESPECIALLY our eating habits and health levels. We have set various goals including NO soda, no eating after 10 pm, and going on walks for an hour at least 3x a week. The main reason I am telling the world this is so that you now are all out there to help me stay on track. If you see me with a brownie or cookie or ANYTHING yummy smack it, smack me or both. You have my permission. :) So far so good. It feels really good to be working on improving the health of my family and I hope that we will be able to pass it down to Sophie as well. So far she doesn't like raw vegetables (unless you let her suck the dip off of them) but she has always been a fruit fanatic, so we will look to build on that. Now, I am going to give you the same challenge I gave all the primary kids this Sunday. I challenge all of you to pick something that you want to work on....it doesn't matter how big or small...but pick something and set a goal to improve it.

Have a GREAT 2009!!!!
