Unexpected moments

This past Saturday morning something VERY unexpected happened!!  I woke up early in the morning with very sharp abdominal pain.  After being checked out at the ER they realized I had appendicitis and therefore would be having my appendix out later that day.  I am now home and recovering but quickly realizing that this is going to put a SCREECHING halt on my exercise plan.  So for now I am just in spectator mode as I watch Jon melt away and go for the gold in his workout competition. Hopefully as soon as I get the docs approval I will be back at it to try and hit my goal!!!

Week #5 weigh in and Jon's 1st month results

To say that I have been struggling with my diet/work out regime would be putting it mildly!!  But even though I have been having a hard time, I have stuck to it and it is slowly but surely paying off.

My week #4 weigh in was not worth blogging (only a 1/2 lb weight loss)... but week #5 was better.

                                 Starting wt:  167lbs
                                 Current wt: 165 lbs
                                 Total weight loss: 2 lbs
                                 % of weight loss:  1.2%

So far in the last 5 weeks I have lost a total of 10.5 lbs.(5.7%)  I am not exactly where I wanted to be by now, but I am still proud of my accomplishments and I can feel the difference in my body so that is helping to keep me motivated!

Jon has been a ROCKSTAR!!!!  So far he has lost a total of 28.2 lbs for a total percentage of 9.6%  These AMAZING results have put him in 1st place in his biggest loser competition at work.  He still has 2 months to go, but if he keeps it up he should lock it up and take this competition home!!!  I am SOOOOO proud of him and his hard work!!!!

Devastation + frustration = DESIRING to quit

We had our 3rd week weigh in this past Wednesday, and lets just say that it did NOT go the way that I was hoping.  (It's probably a good thing I waited a couple of days to post this because I was REALLY not in a good place after my weigh in)  Here's the numbers:

        Starting weight: 170lbs
        Current weight: 168lbs
        Weight loss:  2 lbs
         % of weight loss: 1.2%

Ok, now I know most people would ask why was I so upset.  I had a loss... I SHOULD be happy!!! However, I had had such an AMAZING week before the weigh in... I kept my diet and worked out 6/7 days so I REALLY wanted a bigger number and the fact that I didnt even meet my minimum goal of 2.5 lbs was EXTREMELY upsetting to me.  Thankfully, I have a husband supporting me through this, otherwise I probably would have completely spiraled back into old habits.  He got me up and working out on Thursday and even though it was a HORRIBLE experience on the bridge that day I did get up and I was moving and that is WAAAAY more than I used to do.... so I call it a VICTORY!!!  Here's hoping that next weeks results will be a little more promising but I am just really hoping for my min of 2.5 lbs!

We did it!!! We did it!!!

I HATE when my husband is right!!! He woke up this morning ALL motivated to go walk the bridge... And let's just say I did NOT feel the same way!!! But I had one of the BEST workouts I've had prolly in 3 years!! I ROCKED the bridge and the best part was I schooled Jon!! (Although he was pushing a stroller with at least 2 kids in it the whole time). So YAY for motivating husbands and I can NOT wait I weigh in this week!!

What a difference a day makes....

I am very pleased to announce that Jon and I have worked out the last 4 days and today's was the BEST workout yet!!! I am still fighting with my knee injury so before today I have not been able to go 100%, however today thanks to some icy hot I was able to really go at and it felt FANTASTIC!!!! I had an epiphany this week... I AM worth it!! And myself AND my family deserve for me to be the best me I can be!! So I am doing this and doing it ALL the way!!!

2nd week curse... ARGH!!!!

UNFORTUNATELY, The second week curse has struck the Larsen household!!! Here are my second week weigh in stats...

Starting weight: 171.5
Current weight: 170
Total weight loss: 1.5 lbs
% of weight loss: .8%

I am VERY happy that I still had a loss, however I am let down with the results.  I will say that Jon and I did NOT work out the way that we were supposed to, so I am verymuch looking forward to getting to work this week so I have BETTER results!!

I'm EXTREMELY happy about this weeks results especially because we didn't work out hardly at all.

New best friend

I never thought that this would be my new best friend or that we would be hanging out so much

But thanks to all the bottles of this...

I cant drink water unless it's flavored, so I LIVE on grape crystal light!!

I spend more time peeing than I did when I was pregnant.  Now honestly the only reason this really bothers me is that Noahs bed is RIGHT next door to our bathroom and I swear he can sense when I walk in the room so every time I go to the bathroom and he's sleeping he wakes up.  So, you see how this can be a HUGE problem when you have to pee at least every hour!!!

It's going....

Today is day 6!  And I have to say, so far I am VERY proud of myself!!  I have stuck to the diet, actually I have been having a hard time getting to 1500 calories.  I keep forgetting to have a morning snack.  I have been averaging probably closer to 1350 cal/day, but I feel ok so I'm going to just keep doing what I'm doing.  There is one aspect of the last week that I am NOT happy about!!! We have not been exercising like we are supposed to.  Some of this is just do to other family things that have come up, but mostly it is due to my knee.  I tweeked it some how about 2 weeks ago and it has really been a problem since then.  I have actually really wanted to work out but even walking lately has been difficult so I am really hoping/praying that this heals quickly, it doesn't become a bigger problem and than I can really get to work at knocking off this weight.  I did find something last night that seems to help my knee so I'm gonna roll with that and hopefully I can get in a last chance workout before weigh ins tomorrow.

I guess I have to accept the fact that I am getting older and these products are necessary to have around my house!!  :(

Day 1

I have survived the first 24 hours.  (barely!!!)  Its amazing how as soon as you tell me I cant have something, that is ALL I want!!  So far I feel ok with the day to day eating, but I am already getting nervous about the events coming up.  I know there is a relief society event coming, then there is Easter which is quickly followed by Sophie's birthday.  I know moderation is key... but moderation has NEVER been a strong suit of mine.  Ok, I guess the old addage is true... 1 day at a time!!!

Well here is how I managed day 1: (this will prolly be very similar to what I eat everyday)

Breakfast:  a bowl of oatmeal (160 cals)
Snack:  a piece of lowfat string cheese (50 cals)
Lunch:  a tuna fish sandwich on wheat bread
1/4 cup of lowfat cottage cheese
                     a handful of baby carrots
                                                               (approx 350 cals)
       snack: banana (100 cals)
Dinner:  1 cup of hamburger helper
                      1/4 cup of cottage cheese
                      a handful of baby carrots
                                                               (approx 400 cals)
snack: 2 slices of wheat toast with honey (180 cals)
                   1 lowfat yogurt (90 cals)

Total for day 1:  1330 cals

For our exercise for the day Jon and I decided to have some fun with the kids so we broke out the Wii.  We played Just Dance 3 for a half hour, then did 20 situps, 5 push ups and 5 burpees and than we headed out for a walk around our neighborhood.  Man... I am OUT OF SHAPE!!!  I am definitely looking forward to being able to work out the way I used to!!!

Here today... GONE tomorrow!!!

Ok so I weighed in yesterday and this is the way it stands.

Starting weight: 175.5 lbs
Goal weight: 145
Goal weight loss: 30.5 lbs (17%)

My goal is to be there by June 1st. So that means I have 3 months to get there...which means 10 lbs/mo (or 2.5 lbs/wk). This is DOABLE, but it definitely means I'm gonna have to do the work and stick to the diet! So again I say if you see me about to cheat... STOP ME!!!

Off and running

Im not sure if there is anyone out there that actually still looks at this page or reads it.... it has been over a year since my last post, but I have decided to start blogging again.  Jon and I are embarking on a wellness overhaul and I plan to use this blog to chronical all the ups and downs on that journey.  I am hoping that now that I can blog from my phone as well as the computer that I will be better about keeping up, and hopefully I will also not get overwhelmed in trying to catch up on every detail but just pick up on where I am at that moment.  For anyone that is still checking in on us here, I hope you will enjoy learning all the good and bad.  Be prepared life is NOT always pretty in the Larsen home!!!

The first goal Jon and I are starting with is physical.  Jon is weighing in for his biggest loser contest tomorrow at work, and I will also be weighing in at home.  We have become (for the sake of a better word) a little FLUFFY over the last couple of months and we want to change that not only for our own comfort but also for our health and wellbeing for our family's sake.  As we did a few years ago this will involve calorie counting (sticking to 1500 or less) and working out together (which is going to involve a 4am workout regime...... AHHHHHH!!!!).  I KNOW that I need to do this but I am NOT looking forward to this.  There is a reason I am the size I am... I LOVE food... ESPECIALLY chocolate, I also need to join a 12 step program for my addiction to egg tortillas.  But I also know that I have reached a point where I no longer fit into ANY of my jeans and I am forced to live in yoga pants or my husbands sweat pants.  As you can guess this is NOT the prettiest of pictures and doesnt bode well for the impending swimsuit season.

I will be posting pictures and numbers tomorrow.... so check back later for all the embarrasing weight stats.  And if you see me out and about with chocolate in hand, you have my permission to smack me upside the head!!!

Baby #4 update...

(16 weeks)

(20 weeks)

As of today I am currently 26 weeks along (due Jan. 27, 2012) with our lil man, Noah Isaac. Up until about a week ago I was having a FANTASTIC, textbook pregnancy. Unfortunately, things have changed a little. I have been having contractions VERY regularly since last weekend. Because of the contractions I spent 24 hours in the hospital trying to stop labor. Unfortunately, the contractions didn't stop but they weren't making me dilate so they sent me home. So, now here I sit on bedrest hoping and praying to stay pregnant for another day. (Bedrest when you have 3 toddlers is basically a joke, but I am trying my best to take it as easy as possible) Sophie was born 8 weeks early, so we know the struggle of having a preemie. We are praying to at least get this lil one out of the 20 weeks. The doctor gave me 2 steroid shots while I was in the hospital so hopefully his lil lungs will be strong and healthy.

I'm BAAAaaaAAACCK!!! :)

There is ALOT that I need to update about..... but the BIGGEST news is about our boys. The adoption of the boys was FINALIZED Sept. 1!!! We are VERY happy to have this ordeal over and we are so THANKFUL that they will be in our family forever!

The other LARGE amount of information to share is that we have closed and moved into our new house. We are LOVING it, but it still seems unreal.

(Sorry I dont know what happened to the picture, but the only thing that is missing is our front lawn.)

New update...

We have had a VERY busy summer! The kids and I were able to go to Wisconsin to see the fam and friends for 2 weeks. I actually braved the 18 hour drive ALL BY MYSELF with the kiddos. Thank goodness for dvd players!!!! The kids actually surprised me and did AMAZINGLY well. We had a BLAST catching up with all the grandparents and the rest of the fam. Thanks to great timing I was also able to catch up with a good friend from Highschool that was also in town with her kiddos. The whole trip was so much fun... I can't wait til we do it next summer! (I've been blessed to go back home every summer since Sophie was born)
After we got home our house hunting continued. (We have made the decision to stay in Mississippi and with the new baby coming we have decided that its time to buy a house) FINALLY after 2 failed deals and seeing close to 30 homes we finally found our house. It was in the construction phase but not 100% completed so we have been able to make some changes to personalize it to our liking. We are EXTREMELY excited to say the least, and if all goes as planned we should be in the house by the end of September.
As if having a baby and buying a house wasn't enough going on we also decided to get a puppy. We decided the kids were getting old enough to start handling some of the responsibility and the joy that comes along with a dog...so as of last week we added a 7 week old American Bulldog named "Kit" to our family. So far she has been a joy to have and the kids are having a BLAST.
One last update has to do with the boys. I recieved a phone call from DHS yesterday letting us know that they were going to overnight the necessary paperwork to our Attorney and also ask them to expedite the process.... which all means that the boys' adoption could be completed within the next couple of weeks. FINALLY!!!!

Sophie's 1st day of Pre-K

Sophie obviously was VERY excited to go to school this morning... she woke up @ 6:15. This is the girl that I usually cant get out of bed before 9. She got up and had her favorite breakfast...pancakes (with chocolate syrup and "smiley face" reddi whip), sausage and o.j. and then we were off. (Ofcourse not before Mom got a "few" pics)

check out that smile.... what a ham?!?! (unfortunately she got her momma's eyes, when she smiles really big you can't see her eyes anymore)

SOOOOO cute!!!

On the way into class. She gets the red door this year... she thought that was pretty cool.

Sophie's new teacher.... Miss Jenny.

Sitting at her desk. This year they get desks instead of tables.

Update

Man... I don't know what has happened to me and my blogging, but I am REALLY still alive, I promise. You'd think with the amount that I'm on the computer that I would have hourly posts on here, but something always seems to hold me back. We have had a crazy couple of months.
April, was filled with parties! We had Sophie's 4th birthday, a friend's birthday party and Easter. It was fun but as always also ALOT of work.
May, was filled with SICKNESS....BLAH! We started the month off with Sophie having Pneumonia, which unfortunately caused her to miss most of the last two weeks of school. After that we were plagued with colds that just kept passing through our home. I haven't really decided what's worse yet... being a sick momma and having to take care of the munchkins or having to take care of the sick munchkins. Pretty much though both of them are NOT fun! May was also a month of new revelations for the Larsen family. It started out with a lot of prayer and we finally decided that for now our family needs to stay put in Mississippi so we have started the hunt for a house to purchase. While on that hunt I realized that I was a few days "late" so I decided to take a pregnancy test just to make sure before we made this HUGE purchase. Low and behold we found out we are EXPECTING baby #4. We are very happy but VERY surprised. Our lil peanut is due to arrive around January 28th of 2012.
June so far has been a VERY quick month. We have been traveling back and forth to doctors appts, and appts with the realtor. I am TRYING my hardest to keep up, but I have been WAAAY more tired with this pregnancy than the previous ones. Naps are a moms BEST friend!! We have also had fun celebrating Father's day this month and my 31st Birthday. My husband is soooo awesome that my birthday actually got extended into a three day celebration.
Sophie, Jeremiah and Joshua are as always wonderful, happy and VERY energetic children. We have an outdoor pool at the gym we belong to so we have spent as much time there swimming as possible. This has also helped there sleeping...it's AMAZING how fast they can crash after an afternoon in the sun having fun.

Ok, I have to go for now... but I REALLY am going to try and do better at keeping you up to date with all of our crazy family adventures. There may not be many pics though because for some reason blogger HATES me and it doesn't like me adding pics, but I promise I will continue to try.

Coming in July.... Look out for the Larsen's in Wisconsin. I am daring the 18 hour drive with 3 children ALL by myself. Hopefully, we all make it there safe and sound! Have a Happy, Safe and Wonderful 4th of July!
